Joseph J. Maljovec

Joseph J. Maljovec KANE Joseph J. Maljovec, 91, of Kane, passed away Wednesday (March 24, 2021) at his residence. Born November 9, 1929, in Kane, he was a son of the late Frank and Rose Rolick Maljovec. On November 25, 1950, in Kane, he married Mary Joyce McKenna who preceded him in death in 2013. Joe owned and operated his own logging business and lumber mill for most of his life. He was a very active member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and volunteered for many years on the cemetery board and donated a lot of his time to taking excellent care of St. Callistus Cemetery. He was a recipient of Papal Honors of the Knights of Pope St. Sylvester Award. Surviving are a son, John (Patti) Maljovec of Warren; two daughters, Kathy (Patrick) Dugan of Allison Park and Sue (Michael) Dallessandro of Midland, Michigan; seven grandsons, Christopher (Brandi) Maljovec, Thomas (Nicole) Maljovec, Benjamin (Jorden) Maljovec, Daniel ( Kristina ) Maljovec, Matthew (Annalisa) Dugan, Jeff (Lisa) Dugan, Joseph (Tanya) Dallessandro and John Dallessandro; a granddaughter, Maura Dugan; ten great-grandchildren, Oliver Maljovec, Penny Maljovec, Rose Maljovec , Warren Maljovec, Lucas Maljovec , Mateo Maljovec, McKenna Dugan, Keegan Dugan, PJ Dugan, Tyler Dallessandro; and his caregiver and very special friend, Mary Sewell of Kane. In addition to his wife, Joyce, and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda; a son, Michael (in infancy); a brother, Frank Maljovec; and a sister, Rose Shine. Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Church at 10:00 am Saturday where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. William J. O'Brien, pastor, and Rev. Leo Galina as co-celebrants. Entombment will follow in St. Callistus Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Callistus Cemetery Fund, 342 Chase Street, Kane, PA 16735. The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
