Lydia Ryckman

Lydia Ryckman, 86 of Pollock, SD, passed away on July 1, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 6-9 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pollock. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 10:30 am at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pollock with Rev. Floyd Haan officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Cemetery, Pollock. Lydia was born on September 28, 1930 to George and Rose (Munch) Seibel, Herreid, SD. She grew up and attended country school near Herreid. On October 12, 1950 she married Willis Ryckman in Westfield, ND and together had 5 children. For most of their lives they lived on the farm north of Pollock where they farmed and raised their family. After retiring they continued to live on the farm until recently when the moved into the Strasburg Care Center. Lydia deeply loved her family, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed flower gardening, making decorative pillow cases and playing cards. She was an excellent baker and was known for her buns and kuchen. Lydia was a member of Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church where she was active in the women's circle, WIC, and she and Willis also cleaned the church for several years. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Willis, Strasburg; 5 children, Les (Mary Jane) Ryckman, Pollock, Clint (Alice) Ryckman, Strasburg, Linda (Lewis) Privratsky, Hettinger, ND, Shirley (John) Nieuwsma, Strasburg, and Barb (Jon) Vander Wal of Hettinger; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Janice Becker (Curtis), Richardton, ND; and 1 brother, Willie (Lois) Seibel, Sioux Falls, SD. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer, Reiny, Hank, Eugene, Dave, George, and an infant brother, John; sisters, Virginia Salzer and an infant sister, Maxine.
