Joyce A. Smith, age 88, of Grove City died on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, October 23rd at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery north of Grove City. Joyce Adeline Smith, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Tonsager) Johnson, was born on December 3, 1926, in Harrison Township, Kandiyohi County. She attended country school at District 50 and graduated from Grove City High School in 1945. On March 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Verrol Smith at First Lutheran Church in Grove City. They farmed north of Grove City. Verrol died in 2008 and Joyce moved into Grove City the next year. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and belonged to the quilting group and Ladies' Aid. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Litchfield and SWAP. She enjoyed gardening, embroidering and quilting. She was very supportive in her children's activities and enjoyed spending time with her family. Joyce also enjoyed playing board games and card games with her group of friends that got together regularly. She is survived by her sons, Bruce (and Bev) Smith of Houston, TX, Wade Smith of Orlando, FL, Kent (and Diane) Smith of Atwater, Dean Smith of Grove City, Todd Smith of Grove City and Scott Smith and friend Frank of Chaska. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Verrol, son Dale, brother Marlin Johnson and sister Evangeline Burbach. Memorials to Alzheimer's Research or The Grove City Care Program are preferred.
