Leslie Theodore Anderson Obituary

Leslie Theodore Anderson 73, of Glenboro, Manitoba passed away at the Glenboro Health Centre after a year-long battle with esophageal cancer on Sunday March 7, 2021.

Les was born on September 4, 1947, in Glenboro.  He spent his entire career in the banking industry holding a number of branch manager positions across the country and meeting some amazing people along the way, many of who remained in contact with him throughout his life.

His career took him to Flin Flon, MB where he met and married his first wife, Patricia McDonald in 1969. He was later transferred to The Pas MB, Leamington and Belleville ON, Vernon and Vancouver, BC. His last job was with the Grunthal Credit Union. In 2013, he settled into a well-deserved retirement.

Les always enjoyed a good round of golf whenever he could get out. He also enjoyed photography and listening to classical music.

Les leaves behind his wife, Marina (nee Gorbacheva, originally from Petrozavodsk, Russia) who he met in Winnipeg in 2000 and married in 2005, and who has been tireless in her love and support throughout this past year.   He is also survived by his sons Christopher and wife Sue of Halifax, NS; Andrew and wife Khara of Whiterock, BC; stepdaughter Anna Nikolaeva and husband Jamie Olson of Olympia, WA, seven grandchildren Ryan, Dylan, Kai, Damian, Graydon, Kaitlyn, and Masha; a great-grandson, Jack; and many loving cousins and relatives.
Les is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Rowena Anderson and older brother Claire.

Les was a caring husband, father, son, and brother and will be missed by friends, family, and all who knew him. There aren't words enough to thank all those who have supported Les and Marina over these last few difficult months but know that these acts of kindness and generosity don’t go unnoticed. This includes cousins, friends, and hospital staff, who were such a powerful source of strength and resilience as he was receiving treatments in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Glenboro.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday September 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Glenboro Cemetery with Sharon Hamilton officiating.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

The family kindly asks that any memorial donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st St. Brandon, MB R7A 2W8, in Les’ memory.
