Lucille Virginia Vaughn

Mother Lucille Virginia Vaughn, 87, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed peacefully at home on Monday, March 8, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 23, 1933 to the union of the late Charlie and Gertrude Jones in Danville, Virginia. She was saved at a very young age at First Pentecostal Church under the ministry of Bishop Maggie Keene. Catherine Adams introduced Lucille to her brother, James (JD) Vaughn; he covertly courted Lucille by driving them to church. They were married on February 23, 1953 and to this union was born two sons, James Leon and Larry Darnell, and one daughter, Brenda Sue. The family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1955 and Lucille proudly graduated from Hughes High School a short time later. She worked for Keebler Company from 1962 until her retirement after 34 years in 1996. Lucille became a member of Zion Temple (pastored by Bishop Jasper Phillips) in 1955 and served there until she moved her membership in 1971 to New Jerusalem Apostolic Church (pastored by Bishop Alfred Nickles) along with her mother Gertrude. Both of them were exemplary examples of the woman in Proverbs 31 as they faithfully served God and loved His people. She was the family matriarch, the glue that held them together. Every holiday was spent at Mother Lucille's house where she loved cooking and everyone loved her cooking. She also enjoyed bowling and traveling with Jean Wilkinson. Lucille was a very classy lady and was always well dressed. Lucille leaves a loving legacy of love for her husband of 68 years, James D. Vaughn; daughter, Brenda; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. She lived in accordance with the scripture: “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Deuteronomy 6:5 (KJV). She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lillie Mae Erby; and both of her sons. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with visitation an hour prior on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at New Jerusalem Apostolic Temple, 4019 Gilmore Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45209. Interment: Landmark Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to KINLEY Funeral Home and Arrangement Center.
