Maxine Thacker

Maxine Thacker, 93, of Grayson, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She was born January 5, 1928 in Martin, Kentucky to the late Jesse and Zelda Samons Laferty. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Thacker; a brother, Donald R. Laferty; a great-grandson, Daniel Skaggs; two sons-in-law, Dan Adkins and Michael Adkins. Maxine was a loving mother and homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ in Olive Hill, Kentucky. She is survived by a son, James (Robin) Thacker of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; three daughters, Vera Rae Adkins, of Great Falls, Montana, Marian Adkins of Grayson, Kentucky and Jeanie (Rowland) Hill of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Herbert Dean Laferty of Allen, Kentucky, and Herman Laferty of Cub Run, Kentucky; two sisters, Valerie Hall of Allen, Kentucky, and Sarah Glennis Lowe of Palm Coast, Florida; grandchildren, Christy, Jaime, Tara, Marjorie, and Isabella; and great-grandchildren, Elora, Jaxon, Jaydan, Raven, Willow, and Henry. Funeral service and webcast will be Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the Sparks Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m., John Brown, minister. Burial will follow in Davidson Memorial Gardens in Allen, Kentucky. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Avenue, Ashland, Kentucky 41101. COVID restrictions and precautions will be observed.
