Willard C. "Bill" Meiggs, III

Willard C. "Bill" Meiggs, III, 52 of the 300 block of Cedar Road, went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2016. Bill was born in Portsmouth, Virginia the son of Carol Cooper Meiggs and the late Willard C. Meiggs, Jr. Bill retired from the Chesapeake Fire Department as a Firefighter and Paramedic after twenty years of service. He also helped run the family hardware business for over twenty years. Bill was an Eagle Scout, he was also a talented Sketch Artist and Professional Comic Artist. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Kathleen H. Meiggs, a son, David "Sam" Meiggs and his wife Alexandria of Hampton, VA., a brother, Jon Paul Meiggs of Aiken, SC, and an uncle Thomas Meiggs and his wife Sheila of Chesapeake. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bill was a beloved husband, father and was selflessly devoted to his family and his job as a firefighter. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 19, 2016 at the Chesapeake Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to services from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Chesapeake Fire Department for Cancer Support Activities 304 Albemarle Drive, Chesapeake, Va. 23322.
