Shirley Ann "Aunt Sissy" Aikens

<p>Shirley Ann &ldquo;Aunt Sissy&rdquo; Aikens, 80, Altoona, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021,&nbsp;after an extended illness.</p> <p>She was born in Altoona on November 27, 1940, the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Melvina Paris (McDonald) Boyles. On June 25, 1960, she married Crea John Aikens, and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2007.</p> <p>Surviving are her daughter, Joyce Louise Aikens of Altoona; five grandchildren: Ashley Feather (Dyllen), and Kurt Jr., Kevin (Fawn), Scott (Kim) and Craig (Michelle) Mutschler; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Joyce T. Williams (Martin) of Sinking Valley and Mary L. Gross in Tennessee.</p> <p>She was preceded in death by three siblings: Marlyn Boyles, David Boyles and Marcy (Boyles) Leitz.</p> <p>Mrs. Aikens was a floral designer for Wilt&rsquo;s Florist and retired in 1998 after 44 years of service. She was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church.</p> <p>Shirley enjoyed doing yardwork, but her greatest passions were her great-grandchildren and her love of God.</p> <p>Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, the Rev. George Sanders officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Jaffa Shrine, P.O. Box 1984, Altoona, PA 16603-1984.</p>

Shirley Ann “Aunt Sissy” Aikens, 80, Altoona, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona on November 27, 1940, the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Melvina Paris (McDonald) Boyles. On June 25, 1960, she married Crea John Aikens, and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2007.
