SUMTER – Thomas Harold Hughes, 73, husband of 53 years to Mildred Frances Plemons Hughes, died Thursday, March 4, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Born August 9, 1947, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Joseph Grant Hughes and the late Lila Henrietta Brown Hughes. He was a retired drywall installer and painter. He was a Seventh Day Adventist. He is survived by his wife of Sumter; a son, Harlin Grant Hughes (Samantha) of Manning; a daughter, Donna Lynn Burton (Michael) of Sumter; four grandchildren, Hunter & Codey Hughes, Brantley Baker (Kasey) and Alyson Cascio (James); a great grandson, Wesley John Baker; and a brother, William “Billy” Hughes (Dorothy) of Sumter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Kim Hughes; four brothers, J.G. Hughes, Bobby Ray Hughes, Eddie Hughes and Terry Hughes; and two sisters, Dolly Reed and Patsy Conyers. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Cross Roads Bible Fellowship Church in Manning with the Rev. Keith Rabon and Rev. Phyllis Underwood officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Grant Hughes, B.J. Baker, Alyson Cascio, Hunter Hughes, Codey Hughes and Wesley Baker. Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N.
