James A. Foy

James A. Foy, a longtime resident of Beacon, entered into rest with his wife holding his hand on February 8, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 78 years old. Jim was born on December 17, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey the son of the late James E. and Rose Eileen Moran Foy. On October 17, 1970 at St. Joachim Church he married the former Dorothy Baxter. Mrs. Foy survives at home. Jim began his working career in the banking industry. He worked at several banks in New York City then moved to Chase Bank and Poughkeepsie Savings Bank. He then transitioned to the Receiver of Taxes for the Town of Fishkill where he retired from. He was very active in the community, giving of his time and talents to many organizations and causes. Even when he was sick and unable to physically attend meetings, he always participated via phone or computer. He was a current member of the Board of Directors for the Town of Fishkill Republican Committee and Treasurer. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Romowners and current Treasurer. Jimmy was a people person and loved to talk with anyone he met. He was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church where he also was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus. He was Past Grand Knight of Trinity Council #445 in Beacon, former District Deputy, past Chapter Chairman, past Conference Chairman, past State Secretary, past State Treasurer, past State Deputy of New York State, former Vice Supreme Master for New York and New Jersey and currently was the Chief of Staff to the current State Deputy, Walter Wych. In addition to his wife, Dottie, James is survived by his sister, Eileen Foy of North Bergen, NJ; his 3 nieces and 2 nephews; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law and his many friends. Family and friends will gather on Sunday, February 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. Members of the Knights of Columbus will conduct services at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon. Entombment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Church of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist, 2 Oak Street, Beacon, NY 12508.
