Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Mack Whipple Hillard, of Detroit, Michigan, will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 12 PM at the graveside in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 4195 US Highway 80 West in Montrose. Reverend Michael Harmon will deliver the eulogy. Mrs. Hillard was born to the late Aggie Mack on December 28, 1924 in Montrose, Georgia. She was married to Robert Hillard and William “Jake” Whipple both of whom precede her in death. She was a loving and devoted mother to her one and only son, Benjamin Whipple Sr. Early in her life, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church. Upon moving to Detroit, Michigan, she became a member of the Church of Our Prayer. Effie continued her love for Christ and became a longtime member at the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. She served faithfully in several capacities, most notably as a member of Group 7. Effie was affectionate, loving and was passionate about cooking and well known for her baking skills. She passed away quietly at home of her on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Homer Mack and Lester Mack; daughter-in-law, Ann Whipple; and great-great-granddaughter, Jaleigh Ann Rozier. She will be deeply missed, leaving to cherish her memories to her one dedicated son, Benjamin (Johnnie Mae) Whipple Sr. of Milledgeville, Georgia; five grandchildren, Tina (Morris) Ivery, Angela (Walter) Coley, and Pamela (Garrick) Wells all of Dublin, Georgia, Benjamin Whipple Jr., and April (Roderick) Gantt both of Atlanta, Georgia; thirteen great-grandchildren, Desmon Ivery, Dominick Ivery, Senquon Coley, Jayquon Coley, Annataya Coley, Effie Rozier, Jalen Wells, Juwan Wells, Estavon Whipple, Mariah Vargas, Demarcus Green, Annjaleah Green and Aliyah Gantt; twelve great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, Cheryl (Gregory) Thomas and Victor Ferrell both of Milledgeville, Jeffrey Ferrell of Washington, Georgia, Dorine (Willie) Smith of Loganville, Georgia, and Tanya Wright of Milledgeville; nine step-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Louise Mack of Montrose, Georgia; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
