Martina M. Barros, age 80 of Brockton, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton. She was born in Mosteiros Trás, Fogo, Cabo Verde to the late Manuel Martins Miranda and Maria Jesus Mendes Alves on January 10, 1941. Martina was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and talented seamstress and crafter, who could fix anything with a needle and a thread. Martina also enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. Martina was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Vovo. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Martina is survived by her children, John Barros, Janie Barros and her husband Azharuddin Grant and Adalberto Barros and his wife Ruthy Barros; honorary daughter Maria (Fiela) Rodrigues; four grandchildren, Alexander Barros, Olivia Barros, Juliana Grant and Jamerson Grant; four sisters and three brothers, and a number of loving relatives and close friends. She was also preceded in death by two brothers. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days. Calling hours celebrating her life will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St., (Rt123) Brockton on Friday, March 5th from 5:00-9:00PM. Funeral Services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. All visitors when returning to their cars will please exit the property to allow others to enter. All visitors will be able to greet family members from a safe distance but not able to touch.
