<p>With loving remembrance, the family of Kathleen Elizabeth Murdoch Jefferson (n&eacute;e Dickie) announces her peacefully passing on February 17, 2021 after a long illness. Kate, as she preferred to be called, was possessed of an adventurous spirit and an independent nature. Growing up in Hamilton, she was an excellent athlete, water skier and a champion ringette player. Kate graduated from Westmount H.S. and Mohawk College. At age 20, she moved to the NWT and then to the Yukon, where her sons were born. Kate maintained her sense of humour to the end.&nbsp;</p> <p>Kate is survived by her sons Travis and Kenneth, grandsons Spencer and Lucas, sister Alison (Sean) Armstrong and brother Ian (Cathy) Dickie. She will be missed by nieces and nephews Alexandra, Deirdre, Cameron, Matthew, Alexandria and Nicholas, as well as by cousins Murray and Rose Thomson, godson Ewan and his sister Claudia.</p> <p>Special thanks to her friend Sylvia Yoder, Dr. Juzar Lokhandwala and Westlock Healthcare Centre staff for the amazing care extended to Kathleen.</p> <p>Kathleen&rsquo;s wishes were to be cremated and her family is respecting her wishes. In Kate&rsquo;s memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 9707 - 110 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2L9.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
