Doris Frances Doedtman, 84, of Effingham, IL passed away at 6:22 AM on February 23, 2021 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday March 6th 2021 at St. Mary’s Green Creek Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL is assisting the family.

Doris was born in a log cabin in Jackson Twp., Effingham on September 6, 1936 to Elmer & Laura (Connor) Jones. She married Norbert John Doedtman on October 31, 1953 and he preceded her in death in 2013. Surviving is her children Wm Randy (Tammy) Doedtman, Dorothy Stewart, Dolores (David) Minardi, Vicki (Mike) Meyerholz, Karen (Ralph) Stewart, Carol (Dan) Collins, Brenda (Robert) Tucker, and Christopher (Jennifer) Doedtman; sister Patty Jones; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Presley Jones and Calvin Jones and sister Bonnie Brackney and son-in-law Kelley Stewart.

Doris was a homemaker and was co-owner with her husband in Norb’s Carpet Service. She served for several years in the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Second Hand Rose for several years and volunteered at the Life Center of Cumberland County. She was President of the American Legion Auxiliary for four years, an annual volunteer for Poppy sales for many years and along with her husband, was the recipient of the first Effingham Helping Hand Award given on Veterans Day.  In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with friends.
