CECIL MELVIN CHAPPELL

Cecil Melvin Chappell, Sr., age 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, in Comanche County, Texas. He was born on February 23, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Clyde M. Sr. and Cecilia (Ramirez) Chappell. On December 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to Connie Rojas in Kansas City, Kansas. For thirty-three years he and Connie owned and operated C. C. Club Restaurant in Kansas City. Cecil was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He and Connie worked hard and, for several years, they closed their business for a week prior to Christmas Day in order to provide a party and presents for the children in their community. They made sure Santa Clause was present, with clowns to make animal balloons. They provided Shriner’s Circus tickets to children and families. Together they faithfully served their community well for many years. Cecil was a Mennonite. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Connie Chappell; sons, Paul Gonzalez and wife Laura of Kansas City, Kansas, Abad Gonzalez and wife Marcia of Kansas City, Kansas, and Cecil M Chappell, Jr. and wife Tammy of Garnett, Kansas; daughter, Brenda Gomez and husband Cris of Proctor; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Chappell of Independence, Missouri and Carl Chappell of Kansas; and sister, Susie McQueen of Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by sons, Alfred Gonzalez and Jesse Gonzalez; daughters, Debbie Habersat and Patricia Chappell; grandson, Carlos Vasquez; one sister; and four brothers.
