Doris Josephine Eidse Obituary

Our mother and grandmother, Doris Josephine Bronson Eidse, was born on April 27, 1927, to Jasper Thornton and Anna Friesen Bronson, in Three Hills, Alberta. She peacefully passed away in hospital at Grande Cache, Alberta, on February 21, 2021, surrounded by her family. Her death was caused by a massive stroke, as well as complications of old age. She reached the venerable age of 93. Our Mother grew up in the Peace River country and endured all the rigours of pioneer life. She attended the Ridgevalley School for grades one through eight. At the age of twelve, she heard her Saviour calling and gave her heart to the Lord. She was baptized by Minister J F Barkman on March 25, 1940, at Crooked Creek, Alberta. Her Bible, church attendance, and Christian experiences were very important to her. She remained devotedly faithful all her life. She was the last of the original settlers who arrived in Crooked Creek, Alberta, in the spring of 1929, in the depth of the Depression. She often told us interesting tales of the olden days. After several clear signs directly from the Lord, she married our father, Norman Stanley Eidse, on December 21, 1947, by her uncle, Minister Peter W Friesen. The theme of their wedding was, "His banner over me is love." They remembered that message for the rest of their lives. Six children were born to this union, four daughters and two sons. The loss of two daughters, due to cancer, was a difficult time in her life. The family lived in various places, mostly moving back and forth between Greenland, Manitoba and Crooked Creek, Alberta. Our Mother wrote and edited books, enjoying that work very much. She was a gifted seamstress, relished knitting and crocheting, and wrote hundreds of letters. She had a remarkable memory and remembered birthdays and anniversaries of her descendants. Even though she faced many challenges throughout her life, she courageously looked to God for help and strength. Left to cherish precious memories are her children: Phyllis Isaac, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Linda and Arvid Thiessen, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Denver and Noreen Eidse, Bowersville, Georgia; Louis and Ethel Eidse, Crooked Creek, Alberta; sons-in-law Francis Munyon, Garden City, Kansas and Orville Klassen, Linden, Alberta; 23 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; brother Roy Bronson, Linden, Alberta; 2 sisters: Alice and Monroe Loewen, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Pearl Bronson, Crooked Creek, Alberta; 1 sister-in-law, Lillian Bronson, Roblin Manitoba. Those gone before are her parents, her husband, Norman, 2 daughters, Esther Munyon and Rosalee Klassen, son-in-law Harvey Isaac, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 5 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law, 1 infant grandson, 1 grandson-in-law, 1 infant great-granddaughter.
