Mary Ann Stash, 85, of Red Hook, NY, passed away February 8, 2021. She left a huge hole in our hearts. We trust she is now at peace. Mary Ann was a strong believer in education, being high school valedictorian and receiving two college scholarships. Her commitment to education was shown in her work as a teacher and then as a mother, raising four daughters. Mary Ann married Thomas Stash, her soulmate, in 1957, which began a loving and shared life of travel, adventure and the creation of lasting bonds in the US, Canada and beyond. Adventurous and fearless, Mary Ann was quick to jump in the camper and travel for months to visit family and spend time in remote places. With Tom, she traveled the Trans-Siberian Railroad from Finland to Vladivostok, Russia and went dog -sledding at the Alaska Arctic Circle in January. She loved making lasting friendships with people, spending time to get to know them. Her relationships were so deep that Mary Ann and Tom were invited into the Cree Nation in northern Quebec. In addition to her loving husband, Tom, who resides in Red Hook, Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Sandy Stash of Whitefish, MT, Sue Stash of Boulder, CO, Sharon Stash of Arlington, VA, Karen Stash of Bellevue, WA; her grandchildren, Sabine, Larissa, and Tatjana Kunz, Sarah Khatry, and Nina and Luca Stash; in addition to an amazing group of neighbors and extended family and friends.
