Richard Robinson Obituary

February 16, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Okla., the Lord arrived to escort one of His most faithful sheep home, to sit at His banquet table and feast. The Lord knew that Richard Robinson had not been able to partake of earthly food for several days and wanted to welcome Richard to his eternal home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Mary Niblack Baptist Church with Brother Derek Crawford officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla. Richard Robinson, 73, was born August 27, 1947 in Ardmore, to Claud and Jewel (Garland) Robinson. He received his education from Dickson schools. He served his country as part of the Army 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, where he earned special recognition for service and received the following medals - Bronze Star with “V” Device (for heroism during ground combat), Purple Heart (wounds received in action), Air Medal (meritorious achievement in aerial flight). In 2004 Richard retired from Uniroyal-Goodrich /Michelin after 30 years. Most of us think of mowing and keeping our yards nice is work, but not Richard. Being outside in his yard and gardening was what he loved. But if you drove by his property at Christmas you could see in a glance his favorite project of the year - lights, lights, decorations, and more lights. Few people have the compassion, the love, the caring for others, and the desire to be a human being that God expects us to be. Few people have the traits to be a true Hero. Richard had them all. He left this world walking beside his Savior on February 16, 2021. Waiting for him at the gates of Heaven were his father and mother, his in-laws R. D. and Virginia Crosthwait, and his grandparents. He is survived foremost by the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Robinson. Richard and Sandra Crosthwait were married on April 6, 1974. Even though they had been married 46 years, their strong feeling of love still radiated. Richard is also survived by his brothers, Floyd (Nona) Robinson, and Harold (Lou) Robinson, three brother-in-laws and wives, two sister-in-laws and husbands, 3 aunts, an uncle, and many cousins. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. He has great nieces that thought Uncle Uggie was the greatest. Added to survivors are his coffee drinking buddies, fellow Vietnam Heroes and friends of which there are too many to list. If you met Richard you became his friend. He will be remembered as “Just Richard a good, old, honest, country boy”. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 7:00pm, Monday, February 22, 2021, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Those in attendance at the visitation and funeral services will be required to social distance and wear masks. Condolences may be left at griffinhillcrest.com.
