Scott Bradford Bean, 48 of Denver, CO, formerly of East Hartford, CT, died unexpectedly on February 11, 2021. Scott was born September 10, 1972 in Hartford, CT, the son of John Fredrick Bean and the late Gail Anne (Saunders) Bean. Scott grew up in East Hartford and was a graduate of the Greater Hartford Academy of Performing Arts with the Class of 1990. Scott went on to attend UCONN for two years later graduating from the Hartt School of Music. Scott was also the proud recipient of the prestigious Bessie Pappas Scholarship at New England Conservatory where he was working on completing his Doctorate of Musical Arts. Scott was a talented trombonist who enjoyed both classical and jazz music. Upon his graduation he freelanced and performed in venues around the world, from The Knitting Factory (NYC) to Seattles Benaroya Hall to the Forbidden City Hall in Beijing, China. He enjoyed a busy playing schedule as a freelance musician, on the East Coast, throughout the Midwest and West and performed with the Goodspeed Opera House, Orchestra New England, The Hartford, Springfield, New Haven, Colorado, La Crosse Symphonies, the Boulder Philharmonic, The Connecticut Opera, The Coast Guard Academy Band and the Denver Brass. Nationally and internationally, he toured with The New Sousa Band for over fourteen years. Finally, Scott played lead and bass trombone in the Colorado Repertory Jazz Band. Scott also worked as a Professor of Trombone and Euphonium at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. Prior to moving to Denver, Scott was Professor of Low Brass and Music History at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, was on faculty at Central Connecticut State University from 2002-2012 and The Hartt School (University of Hartford) from 2003-2010. In addition, Scott was on faculty at the Yale School of Music, Norfolk Chamber Festival as a teacher and artist. Scott was a great listener and had a terrific sense of humor. He will be remembered for his big heart, and his willingness to do anything for his family and friends. Along with his father, John F. Bean, of East Hartford, Scott is survived by his brother and best friend, John Eric Bean of East Hartford. Scott was preceded in death by his mother Gail Anne Bean on November 24, 2020. A memorial service to celebrate Scotts life will take place in the future, date, and time to be announced.
