Scherry Anne Dodd Billings, Montana Obituary

Scherry Anne Dodd

Scherry Dodd departed this world on February 8, 2021. She was born in Boise, Idaho, on September 26, 1958, to Gerald Johnson and Patricia Gaughan, sister to Shannon Marie Johnson. Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 10 years John Barry of Shepherd, Montana. She was a loving mother to her three children Gene Wesley Pierce of Paris, Texas; Stephanie Chantelle Massengill of Gloucester, VA; Elizabeth Charlene Miller of Lead, South Dakota; and CPO Greg Tilley, USN Veteran of Maryland. She was grandmother to nine grandkids Kaleb, Kayla, Wesleigh, Logan, Gabriel, Chelsea, Tanner, Dillon, and Journey. Scherry was preceded in death by her late husband CTRC Frank B. Dodd, U.S. Navy Veteran, her father Gerald Johnson, mother Pat Gaughan, sister Shannon Johnson, and her loving pets Bleu dog and sweetpea. Scherry grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended and graduated from John C. Carroll Catholic High School. She played the flute and was an amazing artist; you could hand her a pencil and paper and she could draw a masterpiece. As a former military spouse, she got the chance to experience and live in many different places across the United States and abroad, including Italy and Germany, only to find Montana to be her forever home. After the death of her late husband, Scherry was blessed to find love again. She and her husband John enjoyed spending time out in nature together doing some of her favorite things like collecting rocks and agates, camping at Big Horn River, and lots of fishing. She had a love for beautiful rocks, especially heart shaped ones. She looked forward to their yearly camping trip to the river with her pet ducks Ricky, Ticky, and Tavy. When Scherry wasn’t outdoors, she was enjoying carving diamond willow, sewing, and watching her favorite cooking shows. She was the best cook ever; she could cook anything. Her fried chicken and homemade biscuits and gravy was always a favorite in our house as well as her silver spoon award-winning orange chicken and macaroni pie. These recipes will continue to be enjoyed by her children and taught to her grandchildren. Scherry was a very strong, opinionated, funny, passionate, loving and straight shooter. She gave the best hugs; hugs that could make everything instantly better. She had the most beautiful big blue eyes that would pierce your soul with one look. She loved life, her husband, children, grandchildren, and her pets, especially her cat Biscuit. Although you are dancing with the angels, we will miss you with every beat of our heart. We will keep your memory alive and we love you to the moon and back always. “Thank you for flying Delta and bye bye now.”

Mom was very opinionated and loved to be in the kitchen. My best memories with her were over a hot stove discovering new flavors and cooking techniques. It is a passion that she shared with all three of her children (with varying success :-P) and countless other hungry... Continue Reading
