Samson James Wright, beloved husband, father, grandpa, bother, uncle and friend to many, died unexpectedly at West Virginia University Berkeley Medical Center Emergency Department on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Samson was born on July 19, 1950 in San Rafel, CA to Samuel and Theresa Wright. When Samson was two years old his father died in an industrial accident. Much later his mother married, Leslie Pierce, who was a Sargent in the Army. Samson and his brother Jon were adopted by Leslie Pierce were then part of a military family. Due to military assignments, Samson attended seven different schools (from elementary through high school) in the USA and abroad. Samson received an Associate degree in Accounting from the College of Marin in Kentfield, CA and a BS in Business Administration from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. Immediately he became a Certified Public Accountant so he could embark on a career in financial positions that also took him traveling with private corporations, the Federal Government (FDIC. FEC. FBI), and his own two businesses Pierce and Associates, LLC and Wright Forensic Accounting Services, LLC of Houston, Texas. When Samson retired, he returned to West Virginia to be close to his children and grandchildren. Samson became very involved with community activities being a member of Trinity Episcopal Church Martinsburg, Bethel Church, Martinsburg, Martinsburg Rotary, and the Eastern Panhandle Business Association. Samson took great pride and pleasure in loving his family and the community. He had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Samson is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Novak, his daughter Christina Nutter and her husband Aaron, his two sons Timothy Vitanza and wife Evie and Thomas Pierce and Diane, two beautiful granddaughters, Sabrina and Allison Nutter and two handsome grandsons Pierce and Parker Vitanza, a brother, Jon Wright and wife Jennifer of San Diego, CA, a sister, Terri Barlow and husband Karl of Blackstone, VA, Uncle “Jim” James Schmidt (age 93) of Alaska retired Army 82nd Airborne who served in combat in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Samson was preceded in death by his mother Theresa Schmidt Pierce; father, Samuel Wright, and step-father, Leslie Pierce. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to: The Rotary Foundation through the Rotary Club of Martinsburg, PO Box 2073, Martinsburg, WV 25402 or Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 W. King Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 5:00 p.m., at Mr. Wright's residence: 2277 Greensburg Road, Martinsburg, WV 25404, with Pastor Ralph Campbell officiating.
