Catherine Rogers

Obituary Catherine Rogers, the beloved daughter of the late Eddie and Sarah Frances Fitchett, departed this life on February 15, 2021 in Virginia. She was born on July 17, 1933 in Northampton County, Virginia and reared in the area of her birth. Catherine was educated in the public schools of Northampton County. After completing her education in Northampton County, Catherine moved to New York in the area of Long Island. She immediately gained employment working for a "Doctor" as a House Keeper. Several years later, she was employed at General Instrument Company, making parts for Airplanes for ten (10) years. Her last employment was with Long Island School Division, driving a school bus for five (5) years.  Catherine and her husband, Roosevelt Rogers, returned to the Eastern Shore in the summer of 2005 and purchased their new home in the Nassawadox area of Virginia. Catherine and Roosevelt were married for fifty-eight (58) years, and enjoyed each other when they returned to the Eastern Shore. Roosevelt preceded Catherine in death on May 28, 2014. Catherine loved to travel on special holidays, where she reunited with many of her longtime friends in New York. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by the New Mount Zion Baptist Church Family. Catherine leaves to cherish precious memories; her son, Elwood Rogers (Loretta) of Hempstead, New York; niece, Carolyn Carr of Queens, New York; nephews, William Walker, Jr. (Shaun) of Exmore, Virginia, Jeffery Walker, Sr. of Exmore, Virginia, Frederick Walker of Eastville, Virginia and Gregory Walker of Brooklyn, New York; sister-in-law, Susie Rogers Davis of Washington, North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Burley Rogers of Exmore, Virginia and Thomas Rogers of Westbury, New York; three grandchildren, Kevin Stanley, Denise Rogers and Antonio Fuller and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and acquaintances she encountered during her eighty-seven (87) years of living and working.
