John Robert Yancey Obituary

John Robert Yancey, Jr. 93 of Plainfield, New Jersey, was called home to be with the lord on Saturday, January 14th, 2017. John Robert Yancey, Jr. was born on April 18, 1923, in Howardsville, Virginia. His parents were the late John Robert & Fannie Clara (Allen) Yancey. He was the eldest son of ten children. The family later moved to Plainfield NJ., where John attended school and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1942. Shortly, after graduating from High school, John served in the US Army where he was on active duty in Germany during World War II in 1945. Upon returning to the United States, John was first employed at Ford Motor Company, in Linden, NJ., he later worked for Chelsea Fan of Plainfield, for many years. Later in his career he worked at Continental Can/Kaiser Aluminum where he retired from. John was a loving, caring, very knowledgeable, and hard-working man supporting his family. He was a free spirit individual who often spoke exactly what was on his mind and was always open to share a good story about his life experiences. He loved spending time working on crossword puzzles, staying up to date on current events, working outside on the pool, or in the yard and enjoying life. He was predeceased by his loving wife Doris Elaine Yancey with whom he spent 60+ years; survived by his children, Derek W. Yancey of Dallas, Texas; John Robert Yancey, (Gladys); and Craig Yancey of Plainfield, N.J. Lynne Elaine Yancey of Green Brook, New Jersey, Kent Lee Yancey of Plainfield, New Jersey and Sonja Herrmann and Ronald MacHauer (deceased) of Germany. His grandchildren were the light in his eyes, he cherished all them; JR, Stephanie, Lauren, Lance, Kiana, Ariell, Gabrielle and Elicia, also two great grand-daughters, Yasmeen and Reign. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters Suzie Fields and Mary Francis Briddle of Plainfield, a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by brothers Mack, Walter, Sonny, Charles, and Sisters Clara, Laura, and Gladys. (John/Dad), You're already missed, we will always love you, and keep you in our hearts forever. Now may you rest in the comfort of God's arms. Job well done!
