Mr. Carmen Tapia, age 62 of Gilmer, passed away on Friday, February, 12, 2021 in a Tyler hospital. Carmen was born on July 9, 1958 in Huetamo, Michoacan, Mexico to Inosente Tapia and Eraclean Carabajal. Carmen worked as a lumber yard equipment operator for Cypress Lumber Company in Mt. Pleasant, and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Gilmer. He is preceded in death by his mother, Eraclea Carabajal. He is survived by his wife, Ventura Avellaneda of Gilmer; father, Inosente Tapia of Mexico; daughters, Sandra Vizcaya and husband David of Gilmer, Marisol Zamarron and husband Greg of Gilmer; brother, Felix Tapia of Marshall; sisters, Nely Tapia of Marshall, Olivia Tapia of Houston; five grandchildren, Eric Zamarron, Nick Zamarron, Miguel Chavez, Carlos Vizcaya, and Kylie Vizcaya. Viewing will be available on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi in Gilmer, 2514 F.M. 852, Gilmer, TX 75644, with Father Cesar Betancourt officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer.
