Mary Lou Lee (Conlin) January 29, 1942 – February 2, 2021 Mary Lou Lee, a long-time resident of Hatboro-Horsham, Pennsylvania, died February 2, 2021, at the age of 79. The daughter of the late Russell Conlin and Josephine Springer Conlin, Mary Lou was married for 53 years to Phillip Lee, with whom she had one cherished daughter, Cheryl Jo Lee Edwards. Cheryl and her husband, Matthew Edwards, gave Mary Lou the joy of two wonderful grandsons, Barrett Russell and Dylan Robert. Mary Lou is also survived by her sister Frances Conlin Kulp and niece Deborah Kulp-Woodruff and many, many cousins. Mary Lou was born and raised in Philadelphia where she graduated from Frankford High School in 1959. Post-graduation, Mary Lou worked as a legal secretary before meeting Phil, an Air Force Engineer from CA, who was in the Philly area before being stationed overseas in Germany. Shortly after being shipped out, Phil realized that Mary Lou was The One and asked her to come abroad with him. They were married in a civil service in Germany and celebrated a religious service in Switzerland. They spent several years traveling Europe before moving back to the states. Upon returning to the states Mary Lou and Phil resided in Horsham and was an officer for the Hatboro-Horsham Welcome Wagon Club, an organization aimed to celebrating the community and its’ neighbors. Mary Lou’s altruistic nature led her to many service organizations and activities, including the ALS Association, Bucks County Playhouse, Habitat for Humanity, and Gilda’s Club, a cancer support organization. She was a book club member, causal bridge and Mahjongg instructor, talented crafter/seamstress, and crossword puzzle aficionado (NYT Sunday edition in PEN). Mary Lou and Phil began Ballroom Dancing in their later years and found great joy together through this activity as well as continuing filling their passports with various trips. Mary Lou was an active member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Maple Glen, and was deeply tied to her faith. Through the struggles and celebrations of life, Mary Lou displayed an interest in each person she came in contact with, and was that person who friends and even strangers would often open up to. She would know someone’s life story while standing in the grocery checkout aisle. Family vacations to various locales, skiing trips, going ‘down the shore’, and family picnics and parties will fill the memories of those that knew and loved Mary Lou. There will be a private military service in Washington Crossing National Cemetery , Newtown, PA, to lay to rest Mary Lou and Phil together. A religious service (for Mary Lou) and a celebration of life for both, will be held when large gatherings are feasible.
