John E. Middlemass Obituary

John E. Middlemass, age 89, beloved husband of the late Janet O. Middlemass, of Prospect, passed away in his home on Monday, February 8, 2021. Born in 1931 to Robert C. and Mildred E. (Fletcher) Middlemass,  John went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force. He was a lover of music, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Bridgeport. There wasn’t an instrument Jack couldn’t play. He was an organist for many local churches and went on to teach private piano lessons.  In addition to his musical talent, he was a linguist, speaking 6 different languages. Jack loved the outdoors, filling his yard with flowers and maintaining a pristine property. Many of the area wildlife grew to know Jack, and would frequently visit his yard knowing he would be there to leave them treats. Jack retired after working many years for the City of Bridgeport.  John loved his family, leaving a legacy of four loving children, Dawn E. Middlemass, Bruce A. Middlemass, Paige H. Brown and husband, David, and a deceased son Glen A. Middlemass; his five beloved grandchildren, Chistopher Santos, Michael Danka, Lindsey Brown, Brooke Middlemass, and Taylor Middlemass; his cherished older sister, Peggy Steucek; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his brother, Robert Middlemass, and his sister, Betty Smith. A walk-through visitation will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 5:00pm-6:00pm at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.  For information or to sign an online register, please visit www.SpearFuneralHome.com
