Gaston – With profound sadness we announce the passing of Clydie Ann Sharpe, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. Clydie, age 67, passed away peacefully at home in her bed on Friday, February 12, 2021. She was born May 30, 1953.

Clydie would tell you that she enjoyed life and would want to thank some of those that made this possible. Topping the list is family and close survivors, the most important, was her dedicated children. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was the loving and devoted mother of two sons: eldest, Christopher D. Nates and her youngest Kenneth D. Nates. She loved her family and instilled in her sons; strong values that have and will serve them well. 

She had a happy and loving personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. Some of those became adopted through love and spirit. There are many who called her “mom” with sincerity. She would tell you that Lisa A. Wilson was our extended sister and David Rountree is our extended brother.

Clydie is survived by her best friend and devoted partner Jimmy Frost who cared for her better that a best friend ever could for over thirty years.

Clydie was adopted as a young child at age 3 by the late Rev. James C. Sharpe and the late Lillie C. Sharpe Wylie of Wagener.

She was a dear sister to her remaining brothers Charles Sharpe and his wife Linda Garvin Sharpe, and Melvin Sharpe. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Mary Dikes Sharpe and Janie Dudley Sharpe. She is the Aunt of Regina Sharpe, Janet S. Kynard, Chip Sharpe, Randall “Randy” Sharpe, Misty S. Brown, Thomas Sharpe, Joe Sharpe, Bobby Sharpe, Karen Koen, and Mandy Seay.

Clydie is predeceased in addition to her parents, two brothers Robert “Bob” Linder Sharpe and Billy Joe Sharpe.

Clydie loved the grace of North Carolina Mountains and would say she went there to cleanse her soul in God’s majesty. She embraced the beauty of His gift of this planet to mankind. Mom loved campfires and good times filled with happiness and joy. She would tell you not to mourn for her passing, but to celebrate her life and memories. She loved to spend time with friends and family. She would say Kenny always made her laugh and Chris was her rock. Kenny sure did make her laugh on many occasions. She loved going to the Barnyard Flea Market to sell her chosen items on the weekends. It was never about the items she sold, it was a way she found to socialize and connect with friends and loved ones that enjoyed coming to speak and spend time with her. No one would leave without a story or a laugh.

The family is planning a time of celebration.
