<p>Helen C. Bennett, 95 of Vincennes, went to her heavenly home on February 12, 2021.</p> <p>Helen was born in Vincennes on December 9, 1925 to the late Joseph Schlomer and Edna Bowers Schlomer.</p> <p>Helen was the caretaker of St. John’s Catholic Church for many years and was also a cook at Sunset Court Senior Center. She was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church and secretary of St Vincent De Paul Society. She served many people and fed the poor through Loaves and Fishes, United Shut-IN’s for Church, and RSVP Senior Citizens. All of these selfless acts awarded her nomination and then recipient of the Simon Brute award.</p> <p>Helen is survived by children; Teresa McCandless (Steve) of Haysville, Jennifer L. Wilson of Vincennes, and daughter-in-law, Maxine Kay Bennett of Odon; Several siblings; Harold Paul Schlomer (Rosemary) of Bicknell, Cletus Schlomer (Gayle) of Valparaso, Dorothy Sievers, and Mary Ruth Barmes both of Vincennes. 5 grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.</p> <p>She was preceded in death by husband, Charles F. Bennett; a son, John A. Bennett; siblings, James B. Schlomer, William L. Schlomer, Tom Schlomer, Ralph Schlomer, and C.E. Schlomer, Rosina Madison, Cecilia Yochum, and Sister Mary Daniel Schlomer.</p> <p>Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel, with a Mass of Christian Burial following on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at St John’s Catholic Church.
