<p>Helen C. Bennett, 95&nbsp;of Vincennes, went to her heavenly home on February 12, 2021.</p> <p>Helen was born in Vincennes on December 9, 1925 to the late Joseph&nbsp;Schlomer&nbsp;and Edna Bowers&nbsp;Schlomer.</p> <p>Helen was the caretaker of St. John&rsquo;s Catholic Church for many years and was also a cook at Sunset Court Senior Center. She was a devoted member of St. John&rsquo;s Catholic Church and secretary of St Vincent De Paul Society. She served many people and fed the poor through Loaves and Fishes, United&nbsp;Shut-IN&rsquo;s&nbsp;for Church, and RSVP Senior Citizens. All of these selfless acts awarded her nomination and then recipient of the Simon Brute award.</p> <p>Helen is survived by children; Teresa McCandless (Steve) of Haysville, Jennifer L. Wilson of Vincennes, and daughter-in-law, Maxine Kay Bennett of Odon; Several siblings; Harold Paul&nbsp;Schlomer&nbsp;(Rosemary) of Bicknell, Cletus&nbsp;Schlomer&nbsp;(Gayle) of&nbsp;Valparaso, Dorothy&nbsp;Sievers, and Mary Ruth&nbsp;Barmes&nbsp;both of Vincennes.&nbsp; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.</p> <p>She was preceded in death by husband, Charles F. Bennett; a son, John A. Bennett; siblings, James B.&nbsp;Schlomer, William L.&nbsp;Schlomer, Tom&nbsp;Schlomer, Ralph&nbsp;Schlomer, and C.E.&nbsp;Schlomer, Rosina Madison, Cecilia&nbsp;Yochum, and Sister Mary Daniel&nbsp;Schlomer.</p> <p>Visitation will be&nbsp;Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.&nbsp;at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt&nbsp;Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel, with a Mass of Christian Burial following&nbsp;on Thursday at 11:00 A.M.&nbsp;at St John&rsquo;s Catholic Church. Helen C. Bennett, 95 of Vincennes, went to her heavenly home on February 12, 2021.

Helen was born in Vincennes on December 9, 1925 to the late Joseph Schlomer and Edna Bowers Schlomer.

Helen was the caretaker of St. John’s Catholic Church for many years and was also a cook at Sunset Court Senior Center. She was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church and secretary of St Vincent De Paul Society. She served many people and fed the poor through Loaves and Fishes, United Shut-IN’s for Church, and RSVP Senior Citizens.
