Kingsley Ronald Meisner

Kingsley Ronald Meisner 93, of Blandford, passed away on Friday February 12 2021 in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born in Blandford, he was the son of the late Carl and Orienta Meisner. Survived by his daughters, Edna (Roger Harnish), Blandford; Eileen (Michel) Desgagne, New Brunswick; son, Lee (Tracey), Blandford; grandchildren, Steven Cleveland, Sam, and Matthew, all of Blandford. Predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Morash). As a young boy, Kingsley started working with his hands doing everything from picking apples, to working with fishermen for 5 to 25 cents a day. At the age of 17, Kingsley built a 26' fishing boat. Although he fished this boat, he eventually landed a carpentry job with Standard Construction Co. in Halifax where he became a foreman working at prominent places such as Dalhousie University, banks, and offices in Halifax. All the while in his spare time building Cape Island boats that went to Newfoundland. After 30 years in construction, he shifted focus to the fishing industry. He built a 34' boat, the "Edna-Eileen", this time for himself, fishing gillnets and lobster traps for 30 plus years. He was quick to say he loved fishing more than anything else he had done in his life. After retiring he liked to sit by the window and watch the local fishing boats coming and going, and the activity on the wharf. He planted small vegetable gardens and flowers up until a few years ago. He always kept up with current events and never missed his favorite game shows or the evening news. A private family funeral service will be held in St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blandford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blandford.
