Tarmara Mae Tounsel Marietta, Georgia Obituary

Tarmara Mae Tounsel

Tarmara Mae Tounsel was born on April 21, 1983 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Regina and Melvin Tounsel. She accepted God at an early age. Tarmara attended Ann Arbor Public Schools, receiving her high school diploma in 2001. As she visited area colleges to determine where she would attend in Michigan, a counselor at Grand Valley State University shared he had never met such a student as Tarmara. He was impressed by her skills, her record and determination. She made the decision to attend Saginaw Valley State University. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and remained there for several years; once there she started work at Best Buy where she gained a plethora of lifelong friends. After leaving Best Buy, she obtained a management position at Metro PCS, staying for several years, allowing her to build a work family. One thing about Tarmara was she would always make sure to keep her hair on point. If you truly knew her, you would know that was one of her passions. Whether it was making wigs, sewing weave or flat ironing, whatever it was she would put her all into it! It was in recent years she made the decision to return Michigan. Tarmara fought severe illness throughout her young adult life; finally succumbing to them on February 8, 2021. She was a true warrior in this fight; always looking on the bright side of her situation. You never heard her speak of “Why me?” You could only see her grace, beauty and calmness as she continued to live her life to the fullest of her possibilities in her way and on her terms. She knew that life was precious and believed one should live life in the moment! She loved to travel and was always planning outings, events, and vacations; open to all of her family and friends, deepening their love and fellowship with each other. Tarmara loved her family and friends so much! She had no qualms expressing her thoughts to friends and family, even if you disagreed, loving you in the same breath. She was kind, generous, thoughtful and always helping others out when they were in need. To mourn her passing Tarmara leaves her mother, father (Regina and Melvin Tounsel), siblings (Maya & Terrel Brinkley), (Louis Tounsel), a niece, (Nyla Lillie Brinkley), a grandfather (Travis Flournoy), and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We will miss her, but we will continue to live the legacy of love she so amply exemplified. I have called you by name, you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, And through the rivers; they will not overflow you, For I am the Lord Your God. You are precious in my sight. Do not fear for I am with you.
