Ronald Dean "Ron" Hutchison passed away following a brief battle with cancer on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 64. Ron was born the son of Harlan and Alois (Heeney) Hutchison on March 5, 1956 in Wellington, Kansas. He was a graduate of South Haven High School and then went on to attend both Cowley County and Coffeyville Community Colleges to earn his EMT Certification. Ron then went on to enjoy a 25-year career as an EMT and spent a majority of his time in Harrison, Arkansas and Hartshorne, Oklahoma. After retiring as an EMT, Ron lived in Murray, Kansas for 7 years before eventually relocating to Wellington, Kansas where he worked doing facility maintenance at First United Methodist Church and at Sumner Mental Health Center. Ron purchased an old church in Wellington and turned it into Ron's Man Cave. He was very passionate about music and this served a place where he and friends would gather together for monthly jam sessions. It was also a place for Ron and his family to spend time together. The last several years Ron developed a love for drone photography and videography. He captured images and videos all around the area and especially enjoyed wildlife and farmsteads. Ron was a wonderful family man and friend that will be missed by all that knew him. Survivors include his daughter, Anna Hutchison, grandchildren: Marlii Wilcox, Tylii Wilcox and Tyson Yoder; mother, Alois Hutchison; brother, Charles Hutchison and wife Saundra all of Wellington, Kansas; brother, John Hutchison of Paonia, Colorado; brother, Dale Hutchison of Wellington, Kansas; sister, Leanna Wetta and husband John of Amarillo, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan Hutchison and sister-in-law, Diana Hutchison. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, South Haven, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Ronald Hutchison Memorial Fund c/o Panhandle Federal Credit Union, 403 North Washington Avenue, Wellington, Kansas 67152.
