Marsha H. Keefer

Marsha H. Keefer, age 71, of Mays Landing, died after a five-month courageous battle with cancer. She spent the last five days in hospice care at Shore Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was strong in her faith and peacefully went home to be with her Lord on February 1, 2021. She was born on August 23, 1949 in Philadelphia to Marshall W. and Grace T. Ewing. Marsha attended Overbrook High School in West Phila. then moved to Mays Landing in 1966 where she graduated from Oakcrest High School in 1968. After graduation she moved to New City, NY, returning to N.J. in 1972. She married James F. Keefer in March of 1974. She was a long-time member of Linwood Gospel Chapel where she also taught Sunday school.<br><br>Marsha was a housewife and mother for 18 years, but returned to the work force in 1995, in the banking field (loan administration). She worked 7 years for Collective Bank, then Summit Bank, and a short time with County Wide Home Loans. After that she volunteered with Project Re-Start helping families living at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission furnish their apartments when they left the mission. She always put her heart and soul into helping other people for many years. She also worked as a temporary employee in police records with the Twp. of Hamilton Department.<br><br>She loved the outdoors and enjoyed many activities from Camping at Wading Pines Campground, kayaking, bicycling, hiking, and riding her purple 750cc Honda Shadow motorcycle with her husband Jim, sons and grandchildren. She also loved horses and loved riding. She loved to travel with her best friend Nancy and took many trips to Europe, Cruises, Hawaii, and Alaska to name a few. She took many trips to Florida to visit her sister in Daytona and her son and grandchildren in Sunrise.<br><br>Marsha leaves behind her husband James F., son James M., and Brian both of Mays Landing, son Brad (Sylvia) from Sunrise, Florida, sister Carol Winterbottom (Greg) of Mays Landing, Grandchildren Brian Jr., Hailey, Ryley, Lochlan, Ella, Ilsa, Veronica, Violet, and many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and so many friends.<br><br>She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and Aunt Marsha to many. There are no words to describe the tremendous loss we feel without her.<br><br>A visitation will be held at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ on Monday February 22, 2021 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm, with a service at 2:30 pm.<br><br>In lieu of flowers or donations Marsha had respectfully asked that you pay it forward with a random act of kindness.
