PITTSFIELD – Sessa S. Menendez, 82, passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Portland, Oregon. Sessa was born on March 21, 1938, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, the son of the late Alfredo Santiago and Ethel Marie Menendez. Sessa graduated high school in 1957 from MCI. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. After his honorable discharge from the army, Sessa worked alongside his father at the Pittsfield Bowling Center. Sessa was an active member of the Pittsfield community including the Burns W. Knowlton Post 32 American Legion and the Sebasticook Valley Elks Post #2713. He was passionate about sports, including a profound love of baseball and bowling. Sessa married the love of his life, Marie Annabelle Lewis, on June 10, 1977. They worked together at the bowling center and shared one daughter, Crystal. After Sessa’s father passed in 1987, Sessa officially took over the family business and was a part of its success for over 35 years. Running the business with Marie was truly the happiest time of his life. The league bowlers were like family to Sessa and remain family to this day. A service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 5, at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Ave., Pittsfield with Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. Following the service, a celebration of life gathering will be held outdoors at the Outland Farm Brewery where family and friends can gather and share cherished memories.
