Leslee M. Sollitto Chicago, Illinois Obituary

Leslee M. Sollitto

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and too many other titles to name passed peacefully on February 1 at the age of 69. Leslee (Lel) was a born and raised Chicagoan, living with her parents John (Jack) and Millicent (Millie) above her grandparents' drug store in her early years. She was later raised in Niles, Glenview, and Northbrook with her younger siblings Debbie, Mark, and Paul. Leslee was usually the smartest person in the room, skipping two grades in elementary school (a pre indication of her eventual competition on "Jeopardy!"). Leslee attended Regina Dominican College Preparatory High School, during which she was a devoted Girl Scout who spent her summers as a Girl Scout camp counselor. Upon graduating, Leslee briefly left Illinois to attend Marquette University. At Marquette, she majored in Sociology (and minored in German, though no one was supposed to ask her to speak it). She also met her beloved husband Paul at Marquette, whom she married shortly after graduation – a union that lasted 48 years. Leslee was a devoted social worker for many years, helping to place children in loving homes. However, no home was more full of love than the one she maintained for her children Matt, John, and James. This love was eventually extended to her daughter-in-law, Barbara, and grandchildren - Paul, Tommy, and Amelia. Loved by all she knew, Leslee will be missed by her surviving friends and family. A small funeral service will be held for Leslee on Thursday, February 11 at 10:30 AM at St. Norbert Church in Northbrook, IL. A celebration of her life will be held for friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Leslee's name to Catholic Charities.
