On Monday, February 1st, 2021, Sonia Lamar Granger made the beautiful transition back home to be with the Lord.

Sonia Lamar Granger, affectionately called by her middle name Lamar, was born in Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY on November 18, 1965 to the late and beautiful Alfretta Granger and John Lee Granger.  Alongside her sister, Cassandra Granger, both of Lamar’s parents welcomed her home on Monday.

Sonia was the 3rd eldest of five sisters. Sonia is survived by her Second Father Roosevelt Granger, affectionately known as Uncle Hook; her eldest sister, lifelong friend and caregiver, Alfretta Elaine Lynch, her younger sister, Lorraine Granger, her baby sister, Maxine (Lyndon) Chandler, her dear sister, Stephanie (Thomas) Collins, and her sister, Angela Clarida.

Although Sonia never gave birth to any children, she was instrumental in helping to raise her many, beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her nephew Shawand Granger, her niece Felidia Devaun Maddi, her niece Debra Diane Young, her nephews Michael Evan Lynch and Marcus Jaylen Lynch as well as at least twenty more of us whose names remain forever in her heart.

Sonia is also survived by innumerable loving, adoring family members and friends, with a very special acknowledgement of her long-time friend and confidant Sharon Lynch. Lastly we must mention her daily companion, protector, and source of all her annoyance, That dog’on cat, Stripes!
