Grant Darwin Merz was born on August 4th, 1971 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Wanda Marie (Jordan) and Danny Ray Merz. He passed away December 28th, 2020 at his home in Denton, Texas at the age of 49 years, 4 months and 24 days. Grant spent most of his childhood in Canute, Oklahoma where he attended school. During his high school years he attended Vo-tech at Burns Flat, Oklahoma where he was in the meat processing courses and was also active in sports including basketball and baseball. Grant graduated from Canute High School in 1989 and shortly thereafter began working at Homeland in the meat market. He continued there until he moved to Oklahoma City where he did various jobs. He then moved to Dallas, Texas and began his education to become a computer technician living with his brother Stacey. Grant also was involved with Worldwide Ventures as a travel agent where he used his computer skills and his entrepreneurial spirit to provide customers with the best vacations possible and enjoyed the traveling that his job required. He could often be found in the areas of the Dallas metro giving food to the less fortunate, involved with fund raisers and especially those for disabled veterans. He had a heart of gold and a serving spirit. Grant had two daughters that were the loves of his life, Rylynn and Remmy and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them and attending their sporting activities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping his grandfather on the farm. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Raymond and Bernardine Merz and Noble and Clementine Jordan. Grant is survived by his 2 daughters, Rylynn and Remmy Merz, Lewisville, TX; his mother, Wanda Richardson and husband, John, Canute, OK; brother, Stacy Merz, Ft. Worth, TX; step-sister, Nikki Allen and husband, Mark, Weatherford; step-brother, Bobby Richardson and wife, Chasity, Clinton, OK; nephew, Dillon Merz, Ft. Worth, TX, numerous cousins and a host of other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
