Jane Harty Buhler, age 66, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 in her home surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m., with a memorial mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown. There will be a reception to follow for family and friends from 12:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24th at the Prop, 728 S. Lake Dr., Watertown, SD 57201. Jane Ellen Harty was born July 25, 1954 to Bob and Helen (Holmes) Harty in Owatonna, Minnesota. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1972 and attended Arizona State University. She later earned her MBA from University of South Dakota while working a successful career in Human Resources and business administration. In 1988, she married Bruce Buhler in Watertown, South Dakota and later welcomed her two daughters in 1989 and 1993. Jane was known for her witty sense of humor, her sharp intelligence and her unwavering dedication to the Minnesota Twins. She loved trivia night and politics; however, the greatest loves and joys of Jane’s life were her two daughters, Meghan and Molly. Jane is survived by her daughters, Meghan Buhler-Vera (Jesus) of Phoenix, AZ and Molly Buhler (Conner Key) of Minneapolis, MN; her brothers, Kevin (Kathy) Harty of Chandler, AZ, and Robert (Malissa) Harty of LaVista, NE; her nieces and nephews, Michael (Carly) Harty of Chandler, AZ, Ellen Harty of Tempe, AZ and Thomas (Monique) Harty of Tempe, AZ; her grandchildren, Joaquin and Marcus Vera; her uncle, Gerald (Bonnie) Holmes of Waldorf, MN; and the many friends who she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Helen. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in her honor to the Glacial Lakes Multicultural Center (www.glmcenter.org) in Watertown, SD, which embraces and celebrates diverse cultures by providing education and promoting understanding and respect for all.
