Thomas R. Wolverton Duncanville, Texas Obituary

Thomas R. Wolverton

Thomas R. Wolverton of Dallas, Texas passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 27th, 2021 after battling the effects of Parkinson’s Disease, heart disease, and cancer - just a few weeks after his 82nd birthday. Thomas was born in Dallas, Texas on January 4, 1939 to Herbert Wheeler and Ella Mae (Patterson) Wolverton. He grew up on Maple Avenue, where his father had started Wolverton Service Company the same year as his birth. Thomas went to work for Texas Instruments for a time after high school, and was working there during the revolution of the semiconductor and space program. He started working with his father at Wolverton Service Company and ultimately helped move the company to Duncanville, building the offices where the company is today. His work allowed the company to grow and become a part of the Duncanville community, offering job opportunities and growth to hundreds of employees, many who saw him as a ‘dad’ figure who would call you out when needed, but was there to support you. Countless HVAC contractors owe their experience and mentorship to him. Thomas was a member of the Noon Lions Club in Duncanville, and acted as a ‘secret santa’ for years, buying winter coats to be given to students in need. He always preferred working in the background, shying away from the spotlight roles, but was always there to support and assist. He received the Melvin Jones and Jack Wiech Lion awards for outstanding Lionism. In 2002 he was voted Duncanville’s Man of the Year. Thomas is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wolverton; son, David Wolverton and his spouse, Donald Bridges; son, Keith Wolverton and his spouse, Sandy; son, Jonathan Samuell and his spouse, Kristine; son, Teddy Brown; daughter, Katie Rodriguez and her spouse, Jaime; daughter, Meredith Brown; son, Matthew Wolverton and his spouse, Samantha; grandchildren, Natalie Samuell, Nathan Samuell, Scarlett Brown, Drakeford Rodriguez and his spouse, Lupe, Raphael Rodriguez, Samuell Rodriguez, Aedan Wolverton, and Malcolm Wolverton; great grandchildren, Edward Samuell Rodriguez and Drakeford Gray Rodriguez, Jr. Graveside services are 3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 Cedar Hill Rd, Duncanville, TX 75137
