Walter Benton, Sr.

<p>Walter Benton, Sr. was born on November 10, 1956 to the late Emma Lizzie Hightower and Andrew Benton in Colquitt, Georgia.&nbsp;He received his early education in the Miller County School system and graduated from Bethel High School in 1974. He joined the Military, served 3 years in the Army, 11 years in the National Guard and then worked at Amoco for the next 27 years.&nbsp;Walter loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Mary&rsquo;s Baptist Church in Colquitt, Georgia.&nbsp;Walter had a true love for his wife and family, and he also loved his hats and cars. He always wanted what was best for his family. He had a strong desire to make sure everyone was taken care of and fought for what he believed in. Walter enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and loved his grandchildren dearly. He had a love for working outside and washing his 1965 Mustang, which he bought when he was 18 years old and had since restored and was driving until he fell ill.&nbsp;Walter fought a good fight until his passing. He is no longer enduring any discomfort and went on to be with the Lord on January 26, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter, son and granddaughter. He was predeceased by his four sisters, Brenda Miller, Faye Hightower, Louise Williams, Emma Jean Hightower and Cynthia Benton (Curtis) and one brother, David Hightower.&nbsp;&nbsp;He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life, his friend and ultimately caregiver, Mrs. Angela Benton, two daughters, Wendy Benton of Rochester, New York; Sheila Wilson (Nick) of Dothan, Alabama; one son Walter Benton, Jr. of Bainbridge, Georgia; his sisters, Pauline Hightower of Sparta, New Jersey; Curlie Kyles (Pastor Charlie Lee Kyles) Colquitt, Georgia; Sandra Hightower of East Orange, New Jersey; Rosa Moore (Roger) of Haines City, Florida; Sherley Benton of Haines City, Florida; Linda Parker (Cornell) of Haines City, Florida;&nbsp; Andrea Lee (Lester) of Bartow, Florida; his brothers, Charles Hightower of Bainbridge, Georgia and Edward Hightower (Vita Mae) of Newton Georgia; three brothers-in-law, Eugene Wilson (Antia) of Bainbridge, Georgia; Jackie Wilson (Evette) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Edward Wilson and AK Wilson both of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one sister-in-law, Junita Osgood of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; six grandchildren, Marshall, Dalin, Ziy, Laila, Quintavious, and Leah; one great great-grandson, Amari; one lifelong friend, Vickie; Bridgett Langston and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other relatives.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Walter Benton, Sr. was born on November 10, 1956 to the late Emma Lizzie Hightower and Andrew Benton in Colquitt, Georgia. He received his early education in the Miller County School system and graduated from Bethel High School in 1974.
