Martha Joy (Coleman) Bortz
Martha Joy (Coleman) Bortz, 81, of Kiski Township, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot. Born November 14, 1939 in South Bend Township, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Georgiana (Turner) Coleman. Martha was a 1957 graduate of Elderton High School, and has lived in Kiski Township for the last 52 years. She was a member of the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, and the Hillbilly Clan #53. Martha enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing the lottery, and going to the casino. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Coleman; brother-in-law, Russell “Boots” Kness; and a nephew, Christopher Kness. Martha is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Edward L. Bortz; son, Robert E. (Mary) Bortz of Cheyenne, Wyoming; daughter, Brenda J. Bortz of Kiski Township; granddaughters, Melinda R. Bortz of California, Michelle R. Bortz of Colorado; sisters, E. Jane Kness of Kiski Township, Ruth Ann Shaffer of Mars; brothers, Robert R. Coleman of South Bend Township, Donald G. Coleman of Kittanning; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Apollo United Presbyterian Church, 401 1st St., Apollo with Pastor Lea Austin officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc,, Apollo.
