Hershel Ray Light

Hershel Ray Light of Steelville and formerly of Salem, Missouri was born to the union of Everett and Louise (Vincent) Light on Monday, March 26, 1956 in Reynolds County, Missouri. He left from this life surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 64 years. Hershel was united in marriage to Judy Ives on June 23, 1973 in Salem, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born Anissa and Angela. Hershel worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Salem for twenty-seven years, before becoming disabled. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, tinkering with things and always being “Mr. Fix It”. He loved spending time with his family and being the “Best PaPa” to his three beautiful granddaughters. Hershel is preceded in death by his parents Everett and Louise (Vincent) Light; two brothers Roger and Verl Light; one sister-in-law Harlene Sampson; two brothers-in-law George Sampson and Mike Hane. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy are his loving wife of forty-seven years Judy (Ives) Light of Steelville, Missouri; two daughters Anissa and husband Michael Dunham of Cuba, Missouri, Angela and husband Jack Uxa of Osage Beach, Missouri; three beautiful granddaughters Hannah Dunham, Lily and Daisy Uxa; three brothers Junior and wife Diana Light, Wendell Light, Ron and wife Beth Light all of Salem, Missouri; one sister Earlene and husband Larry Gant of Salem, Missouri; two brothers-in-law Terry and wife Linda Ives of Raymore, Missouri, Keith and wife Debra Ives of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; one sister-in-law Karen Hane of Rolla, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many friends. For all those attending the visitation and funeral service, the family request that you please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 1:00 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home with Pastor Darla Buettner, officiating. Honored to be serving as pallbearers are Ron Light, Wendell Light, Junior Light, Roger Light, Jr., Nick Buettner and Rusty Dennis. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Buettner, Jr. and Jimmy Hayes. Interment will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the family. The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Light family.
