Sandra "Sandy" Lee Hufstedler West Branch, Michigan Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Lee Hufstedler

Sandra “Sandy” Lee Hufstedler, age 84, stepped into eternity on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at The Villa at West Branch, with her three daughters by her side. She was born on August 27, 1936 to Eleanor and Byron Everhart. Two months and eighteen days after she met the love of her life, she and William David Hufstedler were married on Friday the 13th, November 1959. They built a life together and overcame many obstacles. As the families merged and grew, there were eight children. Sandy first answered the call of Jesus as Lord and Savior at a RV park while she and her husband were traveling. She answered the Lord’s call home on January 21, 2021 after an extended decline with Alzheimer’s. West Branch became her home in 1959. Upon retirement and after years of traveling, Buttonwood Bay in Sebring, Florida became her home away from home until 2015. During the various seasons of her life, Sandy put her whole heart into whatever was in front of her. She started a family a year after her first marriage, and she put all her effort into providing and caring for her children. Her love for travel occupied every season of her life until her diagnosis with Alzheimer’s. Among travel, she enjoyed seasons of sewing, reading, baking, bingo, snowmobiling, bowling, and golf. Sandy was a life member of the Ogemaw Hills Snowmobile Club and secretary of her bowling and golf leagues. To demonstrate her heart for golfing, she often golfed 18 holes a day in the summer. She made wonderful friends at the West Branch Country Club and had the same partner, Linda Green, for 35 years. One glorious moment in golf was getting a hole in one on September 4, 2002. She was a hard worker and had a feisty personality. If you knew Sandy, you never had to wonder what she thought. She was quick to tell you surface things, but the deep things of her heart remained mostly private. Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, William David Hufstedler. Also surviving is her sister, Gail (Bob) Matthews; her children, Judy (Dean) Thompson, Gerry (Denis) Stephens, Barbara Hamm, and John (Bonnie) Stocki; and eleven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children, Frank Hufstedler, Gail Carlisle, David Hufstedler, and Craig Hufstedler. Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Those unable to attend in person may join our <a href="http://meet.google.com/nbt-vzcz-oip"target="blank">online visitation on Sunday via google meet.
