HEADLAND. . .Dwight Halton Kennedy, a resident of Headland, died Friday morning, January 22, 2021, at the home of his daughter. He was 86.
There are no funeral or memorial services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kennedy was a lifelong resident of the Blackwood Community, near Headland. He was a member of the Blackwood Church. Mr. Kennedy retired from Pemco Aeroplex at Napier Field. In earlier years, he and his brother, Rayburn, owned and operated Kennedy Brothers Paint & Body Shop in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mathel Henderson Kennedy, a son, Garth Kennedy, a daughter-in-law, Candace Stinson Kennedy, a granddaughter, Nicole, his father, Thomas Espy Kennedy, his mother, Pera Johnson Kennedy Elkins, his step-father, Clyde Elkins, and three brothers, Rayburn Kennedy, Lowell Kennedy and Creig Kennedy.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Misty Kennedy McMillan (James), Headland; a brother, Theop Kennedy (Laura), Headland; a granddaughter, Tonya; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ella Jo Kennedy, Shirley Kennedy Thompson and Mary Kennedy; several nieces and nephews.
