<p>Mabel Charlene Compton Peet, 84, of Bridgeport passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at her residence following a lengthy illness.&nbsp; She was born January 9, 1937 in Salem, WV, daughter of the late Charles Arnold Compton and Mildreth Hutson Compton.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was known by Charlene by her family and friends.</p> <p>Charlene graduated from Doddridge County High School in 1954 and attended West Virginia University and finished her college degree at Salem College.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She married Arthur Hamilton Peet, Jr.&nbsp; on September 5, 1958 and they had two children.&nbsp;&nbsp; In 1977 she moved with her family to Columbus, MS where she worked several years as a Kindergarten teacher with the Mississippi School System.&nbsp;&nbsp; After retirement, she and her husband returned to WV in 2007.</p> <p>In addition to her parents, Charlene&rsquo;s husband preceded her in death on December 14, 2020.</p> <p>She is survived by her children, Connie Peet &amp; Erik Peet, both of Bridgeport, sister-in-law, Carolyn Green, of Quiet Dell and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Charlene was very creative and loved to do watercolor, stain glass, and at one time made wedding gowns and veils for many brides.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting new places.</p> <p>As per her wishes, she will be cremated.&nbsp;&nbsp; There will be no public services at this time. Mabel Charlene Compton Peet, 84, of Bridgeport passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at her residence following a lengthy illness.  She was born January 9, 1937 in Salem, WV, daughter of the late Charles Arnold Compton and Mildreth Hutson Compton.   She was known by Charlene by her family and friends.
