<p><strong>On the morning of Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Elizabeth Rose Dixon (&ldquo;Betty&rdquo;) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>She was born and raised in Wilmington Delaware.&nbsp; She attended St. Hedwig&rsquo;s Grade School and graduated from Wilmington High School.</strong></p> <p><strong>Betty worked as a head teller at PNC Bank for over 25 years.&nbsp; Upon retiring she and her husband, Bobby, spent their retirement years traveling across the country and taking many cruises. They enjoyed the beach life and spent many years as snowbirds in Englewood, Florida and summers at the Delaware beaches.</strong></p> <p><strong>Betty was considered the matriarch of her family and was looked up to by all of her relatives near and far.&nbsp; She was also affectionately referred to as Mom-Mom Betty by the younger ones.</strong></p> <p><strong>She had a real zest for life and never missed a beat.&nbsp; Betty always enjoyed a good party and spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; She was even known to play the violin at some of the family gatherings to keep us entertained.</strong></p> <p><strong>Over the years Betty enjoyed time spent with family and friends shopping, casino trips and weekly card games.</strong></p> <p><strong>Throughout her last year, you would always be able to find her sitting with her faithful 4-legged companion, Zuzu.&nbsp; They were inseparable.</strong></p> <p><strong>Betty is survived by her son, Robert Dixon and fianc&eacute;e, Glenda Soler; her daughter, Julie Dixon and fianc&eacute;, Al Tulini; her daughter-in-law, Shari Dixon; her grandchildren, Alexa Welton and husband, Alex, Mark and Erik Dixon, Jenna Beaver; her sister-in-law, Garrie Dixon; nieces, nephews and their families.</strong></p> <p><strong>She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Dixon; her son, Mark Dixon; her brother, John Maliszewski; her sisters, Margie Murawski and Jeanette August; her parents, John and Catherine (Rucinski) Maliszewski.</strong></p> <p><strong>A celebration of Betty&rsquo;s life will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.&nbsp; Viewing will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek from 9:00-10:30AM.&nbsp; A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road at 11:00AM, &nbsp;with burial following at All Saints Cemetery.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Donations in memory of Betty may be made to Delaware Hospice &ndash; Sussex County, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 (www.delawarehospice.org).</strong></p> <p><strong>*PLEASE NOTE: Funeral arrangements for Betty will be conducted in compliance with COVID-19 directives, which require mandatory face masks, social distancing and occupancy limits at the funeral home and church.&nbsp; A Live Stream of Betty&#39;s Mass will be featured on this memorial page on Tuesday, January 26 beginning at 10:50AM, and a permanent recording will remain.</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

On the morning of Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Elizabeth Rose Dixon (“Betty”) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83. 

She was born and raised in Wilmington Delaware.  She attended St. Hedwig’s Grade School and graduated from Wilmington High School.
