Nicholas J. Izzo

COHOES Nicholas J. Izzo, Sr., 66, of Cohoes entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Mechanicville, he was the son of Gloria C. Ture Izzo of Mechanicville and the late Frank P. Izzo. He was the beloved husband of Yvonne “Vonnie” Pascavage Izzo of Cohoes. Nick was raised in Mechanicville and graduated from Mechanicville High School. He was the owner of Quality Custom Sportswear. Nick loved people which attests to his many friends and acquaintances. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NY Yankees and just an overall sports enthusiast. His love of all sports led him to foster that love in his sons. He was also a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Cohoes. Family was everything to Nick. He was always happiest when surrounded by his family and often said that when with them he was indeed, “the richest man in the world.” In addition to his wife Vonnie, he is survived by his loving sons, Paul J. (Megan) Izzo of Latham, Nicholas J. (Britney) Izzo, Jr. of Cohoes and Dr. Gregory P. Izzo of NYC; his cherished grandchildren, Beckham, Baylor and Piper; his siblings, Frank (Stephanie) Izzo, David (Sue) Izzo, Angela (John) Mulligan and Maria (Tom) Welch; his mother in law, Dorothy (the late Rev. Paul) Pascavage; his sisters in law, Margaret (Brian) McKone, Christine Kobylar, Lara (Dr. Michael) Brehm and the late Melanie Burns. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 1-3 p.m. A Parastas service will be held at 3 p.m. Masks will be required and social distancing and occupancy regulations observed.
