<p><br /> Jean Cihak (nee Ward), 95, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021.&nbsp;Born in New York City, one of four siblings, took up the gauntlet when her father passed when she was only 12.&nbsp; She completed her education and was a graduate of the City College of New York with a Bachelors Degree in Education.<br /> She was one of the first woman advertising salespersons for the New York Times.&nbsp; She was assigned to the theatre district and had occasion to meet many of the stars of yesteryear.&nbsp;<br /> After meeting her husband, Victor, in New York they moved to North Arlington New Jersey for a short time where their son James was born.<br /> They then made their home in Colonia NJ for 40 plus years where she was active in her church and politics.&nbsp; She took up teaching, long term substituting in the Woodbridge Township school system, as well as Saint John Vianney School after their son was in school.&nbsp; She moved on to the Woodbridge Township Library System on a full-time basis as a librarian, where she worked until retirement.<br /> A move to Silver Ridge Westerly with her husband Victor was their last residence.&nbsp; Jean was active in her church, Saint Joseph&#39;s Roman Catholic Church, Toms River.&nbsp; Where she volunteered in the Social Concerns Ministries.&nbsp; She also wrote for the Silver Ridge Community paper.<br /> Jean was predeceased by her husband, Victor Cihak.&nbsp; She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James and Pam Cihak of Mt. Laurel, NJ and two grandchildren James Cihak, Jr. and Griffin Cihak.&nbsp;<br /> A Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, January 26, 2021 10:00am at St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River.&nbsp; Private family Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.<br /> Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, is in charge of the arrangements.
