Anna Karchut Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother Anna Karchut on January 19, 2021 at the age of 81.

Anna leaves to cherish her warm and loving memories with her dear children Maria (Rev. Protodeacon Stefan) Tyrawski, Irena (Andrzej) Duplak, Piotr (Elizabeth) Karchut; grandchildren Bohdan Tyrawski, Oksana Unilowsky, Dr. Kamila Duplak (Marcin Pacak), Steven Duplak (Stephanie Mazzon), Austen, Amelia, and Craig Karchut and great grandson Christian Unilowsky. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Nadzieja Monaco, godchildren Mary Marcinkow and Bogdan Karhut and extended family throughout Canada, United States, Poland and Ukraine.

Anna was born on June 10, 1939 in the village of Dobra, Western Ukraine.  She then married her one true love Jan on January 23, 1960 and together began to build their life on the family farm in Dlugobor, Poland.  Anna and Jan along with their three children immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg in 1981 with the sponsorship of her sister Nadzieja Monaco and the Late Joe Monaco.  Anna worked at MWG apparel sewing factory as a seamstress and thereafter a proud caregiver to her grandchildren alongside her husband. She was also overjoyed to spend time with her great grandson.

Anna really enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, knitting, and sewing garments for her children. She was fortunate to experience many travels throughout Canada, back home to Poland, and the Holy Land.  She loved to cook and ensure her family was well fed every time they came to visit.  Family was the most important thing in her life.

The family would like to express their most sincere thank you to Dr. Roman Koczanski and St. Boniface Hospital 5A West ACCU for their continuous care especially these last few difficult weeks.  We also want to thank Rev. Fr. Maciura and Rev. Fr. Mostivsky for their prayers during the last moments in her life. Lastly, we thank our Lord for the wonderful gift of our Mama, Baba and Pra-Baba.  We are grateful for her precious time with all of us.

Anna now joins our Lord in heaven with her beloved husband Jan Karchut, parents Michal and Maria Kowalczyk, sisters Stefania Pankewycz, and Olga Karhut, in-laws Michal and Anna Karhut, and grandson in-law Russell Unilowsky.

Anna and Jan have been inseparable from the time they have begun their life together and have not wanted it any other way as they are true soulmates.  After the passing of her husband, it was very evident that life without each other would not be the same.  Their love was too strong to keep them apart, Jan has called her to continue life together in heaven and watch over their family as their Guardian Angels.
