Sherill “Butch” Delano Estes, 61, of Elgin, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Boise, ID. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time. Sherill, also known as Butch, was born on February 10, 1959 at Traverse Airforce Base in Fairfield, California to Alvie and Haruko (Katoka) Estes. He resided in Elgin, OR, various military bases in the United States and abroad, Colorado then back to Elgin for the remainder of his life. He attended schools in the Elgin School District through high school. He then attended a community college and received his Associates Degree in General Education. Butch was employed by the United States Army 101st Airborne Staff Sergeant and a drill instructor until his retirement and worked for Midco Bus company. He received a Leadership & Dedication award from Panama City, Panama. He enjoyed hunting, gun smithing and fishing. When he was younger, he enjoyed football, baseball, wrestling, track and bull riding. Butch lived a full life, embracing a blended family and never hesitated to help a neighbor or friend. He gave of himself continually, but never compromised on who he was-a huge hearted man. Butch is survived by his wife, Emma; children, Else Carter (Thomas) of VA, Michael Estes (Stormy) of TX, Dustin Estes (Amy) of AR, Rockne Estes of AR, Robin Kintz of CO, Daniel Kocher of CO, Tucker Suitter of Oregon; sister, Sheila Estes of Ontario, OR, plus extended family includes 3 children brought into the marriage by wife, Emma and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Haruko Estes and sister, Linda Thomas.
